Reston received over ten inches of rain in a 24 hour period.  Streets flooded, bridges collapsed, and creeks overflowed. This is not the OMSI from MY childhood.  I figured that out quickly when we forked over a small fortune to get in.  But it is a truly excellent museum and worthy of the price tag.   The only science-themed museum that might do it better is the Children's Museum in Pittsburgh....another favorite of ours. I expected to see a classroom or two, meet a teacher and then leave, but instead I walked into a huge auditorium full of staff, parents and kids.  Asher had a split second of panic when the kids were dismissed to various classrooms, but quickly recovered when he saw friends from his preschool. We received close to two feet of snow, the biggest December snow storm on record for the area.  It fell beautifully, but ultimately caused a lot of havoc.  School was canceled for the entire week, along with holiday parties, church services and other fun activities we had planned.
